How I Increased my Bookings on Airbnb
How I Boosted My Airbnb Bookings With One Simple Addition
I’ve been hosting on Airbnb for a few years now. My place was doing okay — decent reviews, a steady flow of guests, nothing to complain about. But I also knew it wasn’t really standing out.
There are hundreds of similar apartments in my area, and most listings look more or less the same: a bed, a couch, a kitchen, some nice lighting, and a few plants.
I kept thinking, “What makes people choose one over another?” Price helps, of course. Photos too. But I wanted my place to have something extra — a reason for guests to pick it and remember it.
The Small Change
The idea actually came from staying at another Airbnb during a weekend trip. house had a small projector in the living room. On the first night we watched a movie on the wall. It felt so cozy and fun — honestly, better than going to the cinema.
I couldn't stop thinking about it when I got home. my apartment has a blank white wall. So, I bought a projector and set it up.
It took me maybe 20 minutes to position everything. I didn’t need any complicated equipment - just a small projector, a good Wi-Fi and some soft lighting. The room felt very different all of a sudden.
Updating the Listing
The next step was updating my Airbnb listing. Instead of just “living room,” I wrote:
“Enjoy cozy movie nights on a big screen — perfect for couples, families, or solo travelers after a long day exploring.”
I also added a few new photos showing the wall lit up with a movie playing. Honestly, that alone made the place look 10× more inviting.
The Results
Within a week, I noticed something: more clicks. Then more bookings. And then the reviews started coming in, and nearly every guest mentioned the movie setup.
Here are a few snippets:
- “The projector made our stay feel so special!”
- “Loved watching Netflix like we were at the cinema.”
- “Perfect Airbnb for a movie night after walking all day.”
I even had one couple tell me they booked because of projector.
I was most surprised that I didn't have to lower the price. I actually raised it a little, and bookings still went up. The space simply felt more memorable.
Beyond Bookings
It’s not just about more guests. My property now feels more personal and warm. I sometimes turn it on while I'm there to get ready for the next stay. It is now a part of the apartment's personality.
And from a practical side? It doesn’t take up much space, unlike TV. It’s super easy to move around and to take care of. In summer I even bring it outside - it’s that simple.
Looking Back
I used to think that to stand out on Airbnb, you had to make huge renovations or spend a lot of money. turns out, one simple addition changed everything for me.
The projector turned my listing from “nice” to “special.” Guests remember their stay. They talk about it in reviews. And that's what really drives future bookings.
